A response to a conservative....
I've had a person putting comments on one of my other blogs (Why Do Conservatives Hate America? ) and I checked out his website. I found that I had to comment and here's a copy of what I wrote:
You clearly demonstrate what is wrong when people choose to pledge their loyalty to a person (President Bush) rather than the country. We the American people support our Armed Forces and country but cannot support a man who works hard at destroying America. It is clear this week with the hurricane and flood response that President Bush has made the country less safe. Our National Guard, that's right OUR -- all of us, has been reduced to the point that each sovereign state cannot uphold its responsibility to its citizenry. I fear that any national disaster, natural or man-made, will cost additional lives as this one has due to the current state of disarray in our emergency preparedness programs.
When we question the government or a President (and my guess is that you did so when Mr. Clinton was President), we are not unpatriotic but instead show our respect for America and the freedoms upon which it was founded. If you cannot respect that American Ideals (life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness) belong to us as human beings and are not granted by the government then you must reeducate yourself in these ideals. It destroys America a little every time you tell others in this great country that they are not welcome.
GO ARMY, MARINE CORP, AIR FORCE, AND NAVY and do your duty. We respect that you follow the commander-in-chief even in the face of his actions showing disrespect for you and your commanders. We respect that you will do your duty despite the changing rationales given by our President for your sacrifices in Iraq and here at home. You protect us all by doing your duty. And we free Americans will continue to insist that you not be given duties that contradict our sacred American Ideals and Mores. We call for your safe return home to support our country against the true dangers we face instead of invented ones.
It is not disrespectful to disagree and I want you to note in this comment that I use an honorific title for those with whom I disagree as well as those with whom I agree. Name calling, as you do in this post, simply demonstrates a lack of credible evidence to support for your conservative opinions.
